Planning a webinar agenda and registration page

A webinar succeeds or fails before anyone joins. This guide walks through the agenda and registration decisions that shape attendance, using a single worked example so the steps stay practical and repeatable.

Step one: define the promise and the timing — CybinarA useful path from inputto understanding

01

Step one: define the promise and the timing

Start with one sentence that states what an attendee will be able to do afterward. For example, a security consultant might promise that small business owners will leave with a five-point checklist for handling suspicious emails. Then fix the length, usually forty-five minutes of content plus fifteen for questions. Choose a day and time that suits the audience's working hours, not the host's convenience. Write the agenda as four or five timed segments: welcome, core explanation, live demonstration, questions and next step. A clear promise makes every later choice easier, from the title to the follow-up email.

Step two: build a registration page that asks little

The registration page should answer four questions quickly: what is this, who is it for, when is it, and what will I get. Place the title, date, time zone and a one-line promise at the top. Below that, list the agenda segments and introduce the speaker in two sentences. Ask only for a name and email, adding one optional question such as the attendee's biggest challenge, which also helps shape the session. State that a replay will be sent, if that is true. Confirm registration immediately with a calendar file, so the event sits in the attendee's schedule.

Step three: plan reminders, the session and follow-up

Decide the message sequence before publishing. A sensible pattern is a confirmation on sign-up, a reminder one day before, another an hour before, and a follow-up within a day after. In the worked example, the follow-up carries the checklist, the replay link and an invitation to the next monthly session. During the event, assign someone to watch questions so the speaker can stay on the agenda. Afterward, compare registrants with attendees and note which questions came up most. Those notes become the opening material for the next session's title and promise.
